Ian Sprague, an Australian Ceramics master

Ian Sprague (1920–) — Australian Ceramics Master
These two contrasting forms are superb examples of Ian Sprague’s stonewares, taking strong cues from the Leach pots of the 1950s and 60s.
Ian Sprague was born in Geelong in 1920 and attended school at Geelong Grammar. After spending WWII in service, he developed a deep interest in ceramics that would define his career — becoming one of Australia’s most respected studio potters, known for his quiet mastery of form and glaze.
