Refered to as ‘Geelong’s Best historic building’, it was constructed in 1856 to house the English, Scottish & Australian Bank. The grand banking chamber, clerks rooms, and bluestone vault made a very atmospheric rooms for regular sales of Art & Antiques, over a 10 year + timespan.
Unique to Auctions in Australian in the 1990’s, we had a website with every lot illustrated!
What's Old is New.....
OldBank Auctions
Back in the 1990’s, Moorabool Antiques was asked to sell a client’s collection on their behalf. They produced the first of a series of auctions that lasted for a decade – OldBank Auctions, based in the historic ES&A bank in Malop Street, Geelong.
While OldBank held its last auction in 2004, Moorabool now finds itself in the same situation: a good customer has needed to sell his vast collection of quality Antiques and Art, mostly sourced from Moorabool Antiques over the past 60 years. Our first sale, and a few more beyond, were populated by the pieces of this impressive collection.
